Hosted by Lady Raven Productions, Portland’s Vampire’s Masquerade Ball (VMB) is a black-tie formal event of Gothic elegance and decadence highly anticipated each year in the city of roses since 2002. The 19th VMB will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023. While the night is filled with DJ’s and dance music, the crown jewel of the evening is the famed Waltz at Midnight – when all guests are invited to waltz with their partners on the main floor. This year the Waltz will be performed by special guest and famed cellist, Adam Hurst, along with accompaniment by Jason Okamoto and Vince Frates.
Located in downtown Portland, the luxurious Paramount Hotel is two short blocks away from the Portland Art Museum. The discounted Room Block for the VMB is limited, so book your room early to guarantee the discount. More information with booking instructions can be found here.
The night before the VMB, guests from near and far are welcome to come together and mingle for a casual cocktail at The Midnight Society on Friday, May 27th. This sultry and seductive bar opened in 2021 by Portland’s own award winning mixologist, Estanislado Orona. His high-end, botanical and floral cocktails amid dark, romantic vibes offered with vegetarian tapas has secured The Midnight Society as another fine jewel in the dark crown of Portland. The Meet & Greet will take place from 6:30-8:30PM (Friday, May 27). There is no dress code for the Meet & Greet. It is a casual affair.
The VMB is a formal event and is not to be confused with ‘costume party’. Appropriate attire includes tuxedos/suits, ball gowns, corsets, period-wear (Victorian, Edwardian, Renaissance, etc.), neo-Victorian, and formal evening gothic attire. Cocktail dresses are also appropriate. Are masks required? No, but they are encouraged. Guests wearing masks have always been around 60/40. For shopping recommendations please follow the Facebook Event Invite as we will frequently be making posts with helpful links on where to find appropriate attire.
NO STREET CLOTHES ALLOWED (blue jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, etc.). Also, while some risqué outfits are gorgeous and can be appropriate given the theme, we ask that anything ultra-revealing/exotic remain at home as this is a formal event. If you have any questions regarding the dress code, please send us an email.
The talent seen this year will be something truly special and unique. As my repeat guests are aware, I have extremely high standards when it comes to visual entertainment. What awaits to be seen both in the air and on the stage will feature some of the very best the Pacific Northwest has to offer in entertainment.
The annual Vampire’s Masquerade Ball (VMB) solely hosted by Lady Raven Productions is exclusive to Portland, OR. Any other events in the state or across the country with a similar name or theme are in no way related to, or sponsored by, Portland’s VMB.
